Some sections of the elder senior citizens are deprived of proper access to care and medical services due to poverty, disability and illiteracy. The Society supports them to give justice and rights. The professional volunteers and the members of the Society are engaged with elders to advocate, counsel and thus to provide long-term rehabilitative measure to reintegrate back to the community and the family. |

Legal Assistance Services | ||
Legal assistance service was launched on 13th October 2013.The legal experts of the senior citizen members provides free legal assistance about general legal issues concerning senior, 58 years or older. The service is provided by the volunteer senior retired legal professionals. |

Counseling Services | ||
The counseling service for the elderly is designed to assist the elderly and their families in resolving the elderly related problems. Many of the elderly live alone and feel lonely, neglect and rejected. Most of them feel humiliated by their junior and general public after the retirement. They are not always capable of looking after themselves, exercising their rights and taking advantage of the health and economic stability. Counseling is very much needed at the time of retirement, depression, loss of loved ones, intoxication, chronic illness and psychosocial problems etc. The certified social workers and counselors are engaged with our elder to support elderly problems. The services include for individual, couples and family members. |

Medical Care Services | ||
However the access to medical and health care in Bhutan is free, the survey conducted under the joint initiative of UNDP and RSSC in 2012, about 98% of 101563 respondents of senior citizens desire for special medical facilities like doctors visiting senior citizen home, establishment of old age nursing homes, and special visiting hours in the hospitals. There are some common ailments faced by the old aged senior citizens who are problematic for them to visit the hospital and nearby health centres. In such cases, mobile dispensaries will be initiated to avoid older persons travelling by the public transports. Giving nursing care, injection, checking of blood pressure, taking urine or blood test can be done by the mobile health team professionals at the door steps of the elder patients. |
